Vsetin's observatory functions as an educational centre where lectures and astronomic observations take place, both for schools and the public. The observatory also functions as a meteorological station.

A youth group meets here once a week (more regularly on an informal basis) as an an astronomical club. Visitors of the club are able to use, for general interest, an electronic workshop, a chemical workshop, a photographic laboratory and of course an astronomical observatory, dominated by a refractor (0,2/3m). Observations for the public take place on Tuesdays and Fridays on clear days, more information can be found on the official observatory website.
