Gymnázium Kladno

For more than a hundred years Gymnázium Kladno has been preparing students for studies at universities. It was set up in 1899 with a consent of the authorities of the Austrian monarchy at that time. Since 1904 the school is located in a modern style building in the centre of the town, which was widely reconstructed in the last few years. The teaching takes place in specialized classrooms and laboratories. For example, the computer classrooms are equiped with modern computers with a various range of software and a connection to the Internet, which enables the students to use fully the modern computer technologies. The school also has at it's disposal: two gymnasiums, a sports area in the schoolyard, a library with a reading room, a modern audiovisual classroom and a lecture hall. The school cooperates with other European educational institutes as well, eg. with gymnasiums (≡ grammar schools) in Germany, Sweden and Belgium. Every year it organises trips to Anglo-Saxon countries for it's students, which helps them in improving their abilities in foreign languages. The students participate succesfully in various specialized olympics and competitions. Under the leadership of their teachers they manage to win recognition in national and international rounds as well, and some of them attend study stays in foreign countries, for instance in the UK or the USA. The school importantly interferes in the cultural life of the whole town. Annually it organises a Christmas concert, on which the students appear. The school also organises regular conferences on interesting topics.
