On Tuesday 8th June 2004 the transition of Venus across the sun disk went ahead. Our school took part in the observation and by it we took part in competition about the most exact measuring of the contact between Venus and Sun. From our and foreign observers` results will be enumerated ( in some French institution ) the important physical constant – the astronomical unit = the middle distance from Earth to Sun.

          The observation passed on a terrace of building B, where you could come to have a look at us and watched this unique phenomenon together with us. On the whole perhaps 350 students and 30 professors came. We hope that you liked it and thanks for your interest.

           At the same time in music room ( on passage way ) there was in progress the projection of this phenomenon through internet, so that you could watch how this phenomenon proceeded in different parts of the world. Someone of you visited this projection - on the whole about 160 students.

           We used more different observational methods. It was the straight method which include observation by binoculars, by special glasses and through filters. Further it was the projection method, it means projection of the phenomenon on the screen.

            Transition of Venus begun roughly in 7:20 in the morning. Unfortunately we could not noted exactly the time of the first contact because of weather. Now and then it looked that the whole previous work would be going to waste but the rest of the day was sunny, which enable the exact sighting to us. But on the second side the nice weather has its shady sides. In practice it signified the sunstroke of some individuals, who throw themselves at the scientific research too fiery.
